Upplands Väsby under siege, TV4, H.E.A.T

This week and especially yesterday and today we are under siege. Why? Because there is this big conference on Iraq that is held here in Upplands Väsby just a couple of hundred meters from my home. The general secretary of UN, the foreign minister from Iraq and USA's Condoleesa Rice is here together with 600 other delegates from 90 delegations. It's total chaos in Stockholm and here. Street has been closed down and are now guarded by 1700 polices (at least that's a figure they mention here). I'm going down to do my shopping and hopefully I will be able to but you can't be sure because there are also demonstrations going on. Tonight they are all going to Rosersberg's castle (where I work) for dinner or maybe just mingle, I really don't know, with the King. They will close off the area around the castle at noon, which should be right about now. So even we who works there need permission to go inside. They have built this huge floor as well as a house on the bac...

Monday and workday

It seems like the weekends go so fast. It's Friday and then it's Monday. We have had a standstill at my work now, on the computer program I work in, since last Tuesday! It's crazy and I haven't been able to do hardly anything. That's really a waste of workforce I think. I mean why couldn't they have done that in the summer when noone hardly uses the programs. No, in the middle of hectic work they (the head office) decides that we shall upgrade. I certainly hope the program will work tomorrow because my work has been building up. It has been a very warm almost day almost like thunder in the air. I woke up with a heahache and haven't been able to get rid of it. There is a lot of action going on right now. Both here in Upplands Väsby but also at my work in Rosersberg. This is due to the big conference on Iraq which is held here and the reception afterwards is held at Rosersberg's castle which is where I work. Well, not at the castle itself although I used t...

ESC, Gondolen

Yesterday H and I had the most wonderful afternoon and evening. H, my sister, gave us a gift that included a 8-course meal including champagne and wines which we had at the Gondolen restaurant high above ground in Stockholm city (see photo). It was a beautiful evening with sunshine and Stockholm from her best side. The 8-course meal was a tastemenu and we had a small version of them which was good. Everything tasted just wonderful except the veal liver terrine, which mainly was because I don't like liver. Otherwise it was a real gourmet experience both the wines and the food. In fact I got a bit tipsy of all the wine but it was worth it! We ate for over 3 hours but we had so much to talk about and discuss so time just flew away. THANK YOU so much H for this wonderful gift. Today we went to see Mom and O because it's Mother's Day here tomorrow and I had bought a lot of clothes for them both and a gift for Mom. They were so happy with the clothes. They thought they all looked...

Snow in May? Eurovision Song Contest week

This is the upside down world nowadays. We haven't any snow, yet, but they have just two hours away from us. It fell 24 cm the last days. That's crazy. We do have a low temperature and it has been around 4-5C. This is a very big contrast to California's sun and temperatures I can tell you. I hope it will get better but on the other hand, by experience, I know that other years when it has been nice and warm in spring especially May it has always been followed by a disaster summer so hopefully we will have a nice and warm summer this year :-). This weekend we had J for dinner on Friday which was nice. He isn't home eating that often. Yesterday we went with our good friends J and K to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. It was their birthdaygift for H and this is a very nice tradition I think. Anyway an excellent meal followed by coffe and whiskey (for H not for me since I drove) and Sweden's hockeygame against Finland of bronze medal which Sweden sadly lost. I really lov...

Back to normal

I'm back to normal again. Both regarding my sleeping habits and also all the work both at work but also with my parents. O is back at Tumba shorttimestay although he didn't want to go back there. He really dislikes it and I can certainly understand why. Did I write about what had happened to his clothes? I don't remember. But anyway while he was at Huddinge amputating his leg I called Tumba and asked them what they would do with his clothes. They said they will pack and store them until they know what to do with them. I had weeks earlier been to a store and bought him all new clothes since he has lost so much weight that all his old clothes were way to big for him. When I was in La Mirada I suddenly got a call from my sister H who said that they had thrown O's clothes!! I just shouted WHAT? Apparantly the janitor had just thrown them. I was so angry when I heard that but since I was far away it was little I could do. Now this week I called the woman who is responsible f...

Birthday, school and more

This week really started out fast. First I came back from LA on Monday evening. Tired as usual although I was able to sleep for a couple of hours onboard the plane. H met me at the airport and when I came out he said: Didn't you have 2 suitcases with you when you left? Yes, but now I have 3 :-). Same story every time I go. I always end up buying an extra suitcase. Why? Because I buy a lot since it's so cheap. We headed home and I unpacked which took a couple of hours. Then to bed trying to sleep which I succeded with but I woke up at 3.30 AM and couldn't go back to sleep since I was so hungry (dinner time for me LA time). So I got up and got ready and then off to work at 6AM. By the time I stopped working I was totally exhausted, dizzy, had a head ache and was hungry again. Went home and slept for a couple of hours. Next day the same and on Thursday it was back to school again. By that time I still had jetlag and even felt sick. After school I stayed at the Globe hotel whic...

At LAX airport

Well, J's computer broke down so I haven't been able to write anything during all this time. I'm at the airport right now waiting in the lounge for my plane to be called. I have so much to share with you and so many impressions. Luckily I have written down most of it in my calender so I will be able to go back. I have also taken like over 200 photos (I can't share them all here) which I will try to put on Ringo so you can watch them if you're interested. My stay has brought me to San Diego, Sea World, Point Loma, Venice beach, Santa Monica, Huntington beach, Universal studios and more. I'm so happy I got to meet S and T again. I have also been able to enjoy his company this week since he stayed on and will go back with Grandpa later this month. I really enjoyed visiting in L and J's new house. Loved it and the studio was awesome. The dinner that night in Old Town was very special and I haven't laughed that much for a long time. Well, now they are calling...
