HILMA

Our beloved dog Hilma has gone to dog heaven to play with her parents and siblings. It was a sad, sad day this Tuesday. We knew she had cancer, was deaf and didn't see that well but she had been happy, eating well, drinking and doing her things until the last days. We had said that as long she's happy and eat she will stay home. Since she's been very ill during her life with operations, allergies and more we had taken that decision. Hilma as a H.E.A.T fan On Sunday she was tired and didn't want to go out. On Monday she was moaning, hardly ate anything and was also bleeding so we decided it was time. We called the vet and got time the next day. Me and Hasse went with her and they were so nice and we could go in via a separate entrance. She got her calming shot and came and lay down between me and Hasse seeking security and comfort. So we sat with her until her last minute and it was very calm and very peaceful but oh so so sad. When the vet had declared that she was ...

I HATE IT!

What do I hate? I hate to turn the clock forward to "summertime". My body doesn't like that. I'm like the animals that don't understand why. I can't go to sleep at night and I have so much troubel getting up in the morning. I'm completely lost when I wake up at 5.10 AM (which my body think is 4.10AM). Who gets up at 4.10AM? I just wonder. It probably takes until October to get used to it and by that time we switch back :-) Ah, well that's life. Go with the flow. Where have I been you might ask? I have been real busy. And when I'm not busy I'm tired, exhausted is a better word. Hasse is safe home anyway and he looked so good and healthy after a week in the sun. Good for him. I just wish he could go there more often. I had some girls over for a Mary Kay pampering while he was away. Very funny and nice. Since then I have also been out with my job for dinner at Caliente which is a Spanish tapas restaurant. Very very good food. We have been t...

Cold and Fuerteventura

This is what I do all day :-) Yes, I have a cold and I don't know when I will be well again :-( I have had this cold since February 2 with just 5 days between when I felt a bit better. Now it seems to be worse again :-( Well, at least it's better than having gastric influenza which also runs a lot here now. We're just waiting for spring and some nice weather. Today we actually had sunshine and rather nice temperatures - around +3C. We also celebrated Women all over the world today so congratulations to all us women. Today is also another big day in Sweden. It's "fettisdagen" Shrove Tuesday which we celebrate by eating semla (cream bun with almond paste). So we had one each at work with afternoon coffee :-)   This is the hotel Hasse is staying at :-) Hasse is right now in Fuerteventura enjoying sunshine and warmer weather than we have. It wasn't that warm but like a warm springday. I talked to him earlier and he did enjoy his stay so far. He just arriv...

Sunday February 27

And so it was Sunday again :-) And also a new month in 2 days. February has been a month filled with snow, snowstorms, very very cold temperatures but also some sunny days and some not so cold days. By not so cold I mean like -1 or -2C. I sure hope March will bring us a prespring feel at least. Sometimes March can really be a spring-month but I'm not sure this year. I remember when Jonas was born in 1985. The 17th of April was cold - 8C in the morning when we went to the hospital and it was so much snow (around 50cm). During the week I was in hospital all the snow (almost) melted and spring came and nature litterally exploded in flowers and green. Don't know if this is such a year. I do know Easter comes very late this year but then I will be in LA at my sisters house. Can't wait to see them again. It has been 3 years now. Well, it isn't a place you go to for a weekend :-) Far too long to travel and also expensive. In a weeks time Hasse will go to Fuerteventura for...

Jules Massenet-Meditation

Yesterday I went to the Roayl Opera for the reopening of the opera Werther by Jules Massenet. I knew the story but hadn't heard anything from Massenet before this. I was overwhelmed. What music! So romantic, beautiful and the orchestra above all did an excellent job. First act we didn't like that much but the second act was astonishing. It's just Werther and Charlotte on stage the whole act and they build up the tension until the last minute. We, my friend Carina, and I was very taken when we came out. And we were not the only one. When I returned home I wanted to know more about this Massenet and his music so I googled him. He was a French composer and has written 27 operas. Werther and Manon being the most famous. He was born in 1842 and died 1912. When I looked him up I stumbled across a piece from the opera Thais called Meditation. It was so incredibly beautiful that I have to share it with you. Not to talk about the images that goes with it. So sit bac...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

I wish you all a really Happy Valentine's Day >3  Hasse had bought me 3 wonderful roses in a red-orange colour. Very unusual and totally beautiful. So thoughtful of him and I hadn't expected that at all. Thank you love <3 Today I had the Monday lunch for my co-workers and I think they liked it :-) I made a gratin à la Mia with homebaked Greek bread and homemade butter and a delicous salat. For desert I had made a walnut- and pecancaramelpie with whipped cream. We also had a new co-worker ;-) this beautiful, cosy, soft cat who belongs to one of my co-workers.

Snowstorm

This is how it looks just now from our window at the back of the house. As you can see we are totally snowed-in. But now since the sun came out it's beautiful. The last 24 hours has been filled with snow, snow and more snow!  This morning there were no buses in traffic in the whole of Stockholm. The subway didn't work on some lines. The commuter train was delayed or withdrawn. Consequently peopel wasn't able to go to work. Even schools had to close because the teachers couldn't come, of course. You couldn't even go by car because the roads weren't cleared and even if they had been able to the wind was so strong that it would have been no use. So there you once again were told how vulnerable we are against the forces of nature. Luckily we see some sunshine now and the wind has settled. Otherwise nothing special has happened since I wrote last. I have been ill since last Wednesday really. Sinusitis, a sore throat and fever. I have been working though until ...
