Sad Friday :-(

This is really a sad day for me. Today my boss told me that I had to quit my job :-( Not because I wasn't good or doing my job but we couldn't get the students we needed to continue the business. So he's closing down and I'm out of work starting today. For the first time in my life I'm out of work and I don't like it a bit!!!! I have already wrote to the Employment office but I have to go there in person next week with all my references and certificates of education and employments. If I don't I won't get any money. But on this unemployment money you get I won't survive, I'm sure. It's at least 20% lower than I have today if not more but I still have the same bills to pay so I do need a job sooner than later. Anyone in need of an efficient economyassistent/administrator/book-keeper/secretary/anything in an office on 50%. I can't work more since I have my Mr Sjögren standing by me every day of my life and he's not one that I want to h...

Trettondag jul - Epiphany

Danniel, Helen, Antonio, Bianca, Franjo, Hasse and Mom at lunchtable Hasse, Franjo and Mom (and Hilma of course) Antonio, Pinglan (their dog), Helen and Bianca in the kitchen I haven't written for a few days. I don't know why but I worked Monday and Tuesday and the days and evenings just flew away. We have also had very very cold weather here in Sweden so all our strenght goes to keeping warm :-) We had to take out clothes from the storage that we haven't used for many, many years, but they came handy now. Yesterday we had - 20C (that is - 4 F) and in some parts not far from here they had - 40 F (that is the same in Celcius - 40) Can you believe that? On top of that it has snowed a lot and now we have probably about 60 cm or something like that. Even as I write it's snowing very nice and softly and the temp. is - 17C (1,4 F). Even to go out with Hilma for her walk you have to dress like the Michelinman :-) Hilma, strangely enough loves this weather. She like a puppy aga...

Linner

Mandy, Jonas, Hasse and Sofie Tired after dinner? Hasse and Sofie Yes, today we had "linner" (like I told you yesterday = lunch/dinner) with Jonas, his girlfriend Mandy and her Mom Sofie. Always so nice to meet them but it's far too seldom. Today I made a smoke-cured loin of pork/chicken fillet gratin that also included paprikas, mushroms, leek, sambal oelek, chili, cream and more. Very yummie if I may say so myself :-) I served potatoes and a green salad with it. For starters a favourite once again - asparagus soup with broschetta. And for dessert chocolatemousse with whipped cream. Very good all of it but the sad thing is that you get so tired after eating. We did eat for about 3 hours though so we took it slow and easy. I really like this photo of me and Inger on New Year's Eve. Thanks Tracy Now I'm preparing for tomorrow, it's back to work. I'm very curious to see if there are any more applications for the course that starts January 25 which is kind of...

Namesday

Aren't the scarves the same? Today is the second day of this new year 2010 and it's actually my namesday, Svea. I was named after my maternal grandmother who I never met since she died when my Mom was only 7 years old. My grandmother had a heartcondition which in those days couldn't be operated so at only 32 years she died. If it had been today she would have lived a full and long life. Anyway when I was little I was so ashamed of that name because it wasn't "in" or "hip" so I never told anyone my full name. It was bad enough to be christened Marie-Christine. I mean noone ever could remember that name. I was called Ann-Kristin, Marie-Louise, Loppan, Kristina and lots more. So eventually I started calling myself Mia and so did all my friends. When it was possible I took the name Mia officially so today my complete name is Mia Svea Marie-Christine. Something I'm very proud of today. It's not many people that has these names. And I'm proud t...

Happy New Year 2010

We had a very quiet and traditional New Year celebration with our good friends and their kids (our adopted grandchildren). They arrived at 6PM and we had a welcome drink, of course Champagne which was good. Then we had asparagus soup with broschetta and main course was fillet of beef gratin with mushrooms, whinesauce, västerbottencheese and mashed potatoes (everything homemade of course) Til that I served mixed sallat. For dessert I had made my famous cheesecake which tastes like vanilla icecream. After coffee time was almost 11.40 and we had to prepare for the stroke of 12. Glasses had to be carrid upstairs, champagne had to be opened and everyone had to dress warm. It was around -8C and we always stands on our balcony where we have the most gorgeous view over Upplands Väsby and all the way in to Stockholm. This year it was a bit snowy so not that good view but quite enough. We never have any fireworks ourselves. There are plenty to see since we have 180 degree vision. I don't kno...

Just 2 more days left of 2009

I had the most wonderful Christmas card or rather gift today from my niece Lizzie in San Diego and her family Jeff and Dakota. She asked us earlier this year about favourite recipes we had and I sent over one of my. Turns out she did a little book called "Family flavors" the cuisine of our kin volume 1. A wonderful little book with recipes from family members and also underneeth every recipy was a description of the person that had sent it and relation. So nice, so personal and so yummie!! Some of the recipies I really must try. Also included was a CD with storytelling by Lizzie and Dakota, songs by Jeff and Dakota and poetry read by Lizzie. Such a wonderful gift and one that I can listen to all year long. Also a photo of Dakota and although Lizzie isn't her mother she looks a lot like her. She's very pretty and has grown so much since I last saw her. file:///C:/My%20Music/Untitled%20-%2009-12-29/02%20-%20Track%202.mp3 This evening I read some sad news though that Je...
