My Mom, Hasse and Emil
We had a really good Christmas Eve with my family. Very traditional in a Swedish way.
Everyone came at 1PM and then we ate Christmas lunch/dinner. Everything that is good we had on our table.
Ham of course, different kind of herring, egghalves with shrimp"röra", omelett with mushromstew, löjrom, Christmas-sausage, potatoes, beetsallat, meatballs, chipolata sausage, ham-temptation, bread and different kind of cheeses. After that you are totally full I can tell you.
So shortly after it's the longest tradition in Swedish Televison - Donald Duck says Merry Christmas. This program is 1 hour long and during that there are candys - homemade fudge, chocolate, fruit and more.
While everyone is watching TV I prepare coffee with homemade safronbuns, homemade cookies of different kind and a soft gingerbreadcake that Danniel makes every year.
So after Donald Duck is finished Santa comes (in the shape of me) and we get our gifts.
Around 5 or 6 PM we are done with the gifts and it's time for coffee. All the time we sing and chat away of course.
When the coffee is drunk usually it's time for my Mom to go home because she has to order transport very early in the month to be able to get home. Danniel goes with her which is good since she can get very anxoius otherwise.
I have the last years finished Christmas Eve by going to midnight mass with my friend Inger, but this year I was so so tired that I simply couldn't which is a shame because it's a very good way of ending Christmas Eve.
Yesterday, Boxing Day, we had dinner with Jonas, Mandy and Sofie (she's Mandy's Mom).
You can see on the photos what we had to eat except the starter which I forgot to take a photo of. But it was whitefish roe-toast. Main course was baconrolled fillet of pork with a mushromwinesauce (made by me for over 3 hours!!!), potatogratin and greensalat. For dessert chocolatefondant with raspberries and whipped cream.
I hope you will have a really happy ending of 2010 and a Happy New 2011 :-)
