Hard rock at the Rockboat!

H.E.A.T on stage. Photo Pär Altan This weekend I went to Helsinki, as I told you I would in my last post, with the Rockboat. Friday morning I first went to the Rheumatology clinic at Karolinska hospital in Solna where we, the Rheumatic association district of Stockholm together with the clinic had an Open House. When I came at 8.20AM it was already a line waiting (we had open house between 9-12 AM). So by 8.40 they started to let people in. There were 3 doctors, 3 nurses, 2 specialists on ultrasound and one occupational Therapist. Last year we had 60 visitors. This year we stopped giving out numbers (for the line) when we reached 100. Almost everyone got diagnosed, some were in very bad shape and hadn't got the help they needed by their local care. I had to leave before it was over but I heard they had to stay until almost 1PM. Before we even opened this is a few of those waiting Then I headed home, took my packed suitcase. Hasse and I fetched Jonas and then we went...

Meeting, working and the Rockboat

On Saturday we had a meeting with the party/jubilee committé at my friend Ingvor's house. I had made Vasterbottenpies, she made sallat, I had baked cinnamon buns (which I wrote about in my last post). It all went down very well with the ladies :-) We had a really good, productive meeting and decided on a lot of things both for the upcoming Christmas party but also for next year's jubilee. I can't tell you yet because it's a secret so far and I haven't got due permissions yet, but you can be sure I will tell you when all is fixed. We were supposed to meet for 2 hours but we had so many ideas and chatted so it lasted for 4 hours instead :-) Then on Sunday I rested, yes really. On Monday our friend J celebrated his birthday but we couldn't be there so we sent flowers. Yesterday my Opera friend celebrated her birthday but she will get her gift when we go to the Opera next time. Tomorrow the Rheumatology at Karolinska hospital has Open House and I will be th...

Already October?!

Oh my God how time flies. I don't know where the days go - it's Monday and then it's Sunday in just a flash.  Last I wrote about my birthday and I think it was on the 14th. Then on the 15th Sept was my actual birthday and since I had a big party followed the day after by the dinner and musical I thought that was it. But no, on my birthday there came around 15 more to celebrate me :-) Well, at least I had coffee and a cake to give them. So I celebrate like the royals for 3 days ;-) From Hasse I got, in the morning, his gift which is a weekend trip to a city of my choice this coming spring. What a wonderful gift and I was so happy :-) My sister Helen, who was in Palma and couldn't be at the party sadly enough, has given me a surprise. November 21 and that weekend I know I will be staying at a hotel but don't know which one or what we are going to do. That I like :-) The week after my birthday I had a big job making the thank you card and sending them The th...

60 years old (young)??

Balloons on our bed ready to brighten up the party room They say I will turn 60 on Monday?! I suppose I will but I don't feel like 60. When I was younger like in my 20-s I thought people at the age of 60 were so old. I don't think that today and I don't know if it's because we look younger, we stay younger or if it only was because I was younger. I think I'm singing :-) Yesterday was my birthday party although it's not really until Monday but hard to have parties on Mondays :-) so Friday was a better option. What a night I had!!! Telling something to someone maybe ;-) Everything I wished for came true :-) I had my near and dear there, both family, friends and co-workers. Some were missed, of course, like my sisters. Neither of them could come. One because she lives very far away in LA. The other is with her work in Mallorca but I know both of them were there in thoughts. Me and Erik Grönwall singing together (!) And what a night it w...

Sorry....:-(

I haven't written in such a long time, two weeks. I have, as I wrote last, broken my toe and I have had difficulties walking to say the least. It's getting better but now my calf on the other leg is hurting. Probably because I have taken most of the load on that one. The Rheumatic District work is in full bloom again and I have had meetings both with the board, with the budget group, with the web group and also the party committee. We have a conference coming up in 3 weeks so a lot of planning with that too. Then my work celebrate its 10th anniversary next year so I have the task of planning a trip for all of us to Berlin in March. I have never been there so that will be interesting. I have already learnt a lot about Berlin, where to stay, what to see etc.  Something to look forward to. We will also have something for our clients of course and that will take place January 13 which is the day we throw out Christmas. So it will be that theme. But first it's time for w...

Broken toe :-(

I don't know if you can see how swollen the toe and the whole foot is but it is swollen! It's the toe that looks like a small sausage as we say in Sweden prinskorv Yes, last night I woke up and went to the bathroom. I never turn the light on because then I get wide awake. So I did what I came for and then when I turned to wash my hands, yes still in the dark, I smashed my foot into a chair.  There is never a chair there normally. It's in the shower but now for some reason someone, H, had put it there. It hurt like h...l and I had to turn the light on. What I saw was the second toe, beside the pinkie toe, in almost 90 degrees angle. I suppose I was still sleepy because I thought I can't have it this way. So I took the toe and bent it back to an upright position and I can tell you it hurt!!!!! I had trouble sleeping after that because every position I tried in bed hurt in my foot. A little toe can hurt that much?!?  Well, it does. Because I was in horisontal pos...

Cruise to Åbo (Turku) with the boys

View from our suite. Gorgeous! Last weekend I didn't do much. No exciting outings or anything, just hanging around the house. On Tuesday I went to a friend for dinner. She has her birthday on Sunday so me and our other friend met up at her house to celebrate her. Very nice and a very good dinner. Father and son Mother and son Then on Thursday I first went to Norrtalje for some treatment, chat and lunch with my very good friend Anne. She is so good in reflexology and that helps me a lot. We had a wonderful lunch at the Åtellet in Norrtälje before I headed back home. At home the boys, Danniel, Emil and Hasse waited for me because we were going on a cruise to Åbo in Finland which we treated Danniel and Emil to. Hasse and me had one of those luxurious suites with big balcony and the boys had a A cabin with window very close to our suite. Why wasn't Jonas with us you may ask? Well, he was in Gothenburg with H.E.A.T playing at the Gothenburg culture festival. ...
