Jules Massenet-Meditation

Yesterday I went to the Roayl Opera for the reopening of the opera Werther by Jules Massenet. I knew the story but hadn't heard anything from Massenet before this. I was overwhelmed. What music! So romantic, beautiful and the orchestra above all did an excellent job. First act we didn't like that much but the second act was astonishing. It's just Werther and Charlotte on stage the whole act and they build up the tension until the last minute. We, my friend Carina, and I was very taken when we came out. And we were not the only one. When I returned home I wanted to know more about this Massenet and his music so I googled him. He was a French composer and has written 27 operas. Werther and Manon being the most famous. He was born in 1842 and died 1912. When I looked him up I stumbled across a piece from the opera Thais called Meditation. It was so incredibly beautiful that I have to share it with you. Not to talk about the images that goes with it. So sit bac...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

I wish you all a really Happy Valentine's Day >3  Hasse had bought me 3 wonderful roses in a red-orange colour. Very unusual and totally beautiful. So thoughtful of him and I hadn't expected that at all. Thank you love <3 Today I had the Monday lunch for my co-workers and I think they liked it :-) I made a gratin à la Mia with homebaked Greek bread and homemade butter and a delicous salat. For desert I had made a walnut- and pecancaramelpie with whipped cream. We also had a new co-worker ;-) this beautiful, cosy, soft cat who belongs to one of my co-workers.

Snowstorm

This is how it looks just now from our window at the back of the house. As you can see we are totally snowed-in. But now since the sun came out it's beautiful. The last 24 hours has been filled with snow, snow and more snow!  This morning there were no buses in traffic in the whole of Stockholm. The subway didn't work on some lines. The commuter train was delayed or withdrawn. Consequently peopel wasn't able to go to work. Even schools had to close because the teachers couldn't come, of course. You couldn't even go by car because the roads weren't cleared and even if they had been able to the wind was so strong that it would have been no use. So there you once again were told how vulnerable we are against the forces of nature. Luckily we see some sunshine now and the wind has settled. Otherwise nothing special has happened since I wrote last. I have been ill since last Wednesday really. Sinusitis, a sore throat and fever. I have been working though until ...

Monday January 31

Last day of the month. Where did January go? Last time I really wrote here was January 10 and since I haven't seemed to have the time. There has been a lot of work of course especially since we closed for 10 days during the holidays and it takes some time to catch up.I have also started the work with the annual closing of the books. I can say I'm almost ready already :-) I have also been on a planning conference with the Rheumatic association which was hard work but gave a lot. We went to my old work at Rosersberg. Very nice to meet some of my old co-workers. Everything was very smooth and they had renovated the hotelsroom so they now were very nice and what wonderful beds! Food was great as well. But just one hour before leaving for the conference I ate a sandwich and there was something hard - my tooth!! The last teeth on the upper side. It felt like a big crater and it was certainly not nice when I had to talk for 2 days. Of course I called my dentist-sister at once and...

Beautiful song and video by my friend Victoria Tocca

Back to work

Today was first day at work this year. It felt really good to get started again and of course it was Monday so I knew I had a good lunch to look forward to. Yes, we are cooking for each other this year too and hopefully it will result in yet another cook-book. The one from 2010 made a huge success!! We gave it to our customers and we also got 3 copies each and I gave two of mine as Christmas present. Today S had cooked for us a delicious fish-dish with plaice on a spinachbed and baked in oven with a cheesesauce. She had also made this wonderful sallat with marinated zucchini, beans and red onion. Just the thing one wants after all the food you have eaten during Christmas and New Year-holiday. This week is filled with job and basically the whole month. Now there are no more "red" days (holidays) before I take off for LA. I'm so looking forward to meeting everyone again :-)

Be sure to look at this!

http://www.bycelina.se A friend of mine has started her own webshop where she sells bracelets, earrings, rings and more. All designed and made by her. Take a look! I think they are really special.
