Soon 2013 is over and a new fresh year awaits...

or as one said: We have 365 pages in a new book. Let's fill them with good things.

Tonight we celebrate the last hours of this year and me, Hasse and Emil are having dinner together. Jonas is at a party with his friends and some from the band. Danniel is at home also with a delicious dinner. This is what we had.

Starter: Räkröra (shrimp hotchpotch on a toast)

Happy Emil

Main course: Fillet of beef with ovenroasted root crops, brandysauce, garlic sauce and fetacheese sauce

Hasse is cutting the beef

The dessert was to die for: Chocolate fondant with raspberries and whipped cream
Now we are all waiting for the magic midnight hour. There are a lot of fireworks already (9.30PM) but of course there will be a lot more the closer we get to midnight.

I wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014!! whenever that is. Hope next year will be a healthier one and with more joy than this.

Christmas time

I last wrote on Lucia day and much has happened since then. First we had our Christmas party at work which like tradition bids were spent cooking for each other a 3-course dinner. And of course in this was a little competition :-)
I was still very tired from eating the antibiotics and also having the bronchitis but I managed to stay all night!

The day after I went to my doctor and he seemed happy with my tests except the CRP and sed rate. I had sent him (and his wife who is nurse at the clinic) a nice gift which he thanked for. I have had the same doctor for 25 years and that is rare. He can see on me when I'm not feeling well and that is so valuable.

The days following that was filled with cooking and preparing for Christmas Eve.
Emil came over early for Christmas breakfast. Then a couple of hours later my BFF came with our "adopted" grandchildren and even greatgrandchild. We had some coffee and cakes and exchanged gifts. Very nice and a tradition for many years.
My BFF Inger with grandchild Freya (which makes me great grandmother)

Shortly after Danniel and Jonas arrived and after having Santaporridge with hamsandwich for lunch the boys played Monopoly while waiting for Donald Duck's Christmas to start. As tradition bids at 3PM. Mandy who worked came later at 2.30PM.

Danniel smiles, maybe he got some money :-)
I saw Donald Duck for 30 minutes and then I started to lay out the Christmas table. Since Helen and her family is in Florida we have their dog Pinglan here and she was very, very interested in all the food and she didn't leave my side.

Emil take some ham. We always have cold food before the warm dishes.

Cheers and bon appetit!

Happy faces
After eating, always too much, it was time for gifts. This year we each bought a Christmas gift for 200 SEK and then we had like a lottery. Very nice and I think we will stick to that. Of course I had also bought some things for each of them.

Christmas Day we went to Gavle for the next celebration. We got to see most of the grandchildren and other relatives. We were 18 plus one dog (Danniel had Pinglan luckily enough) and we had a great time. We ate, chatted and had coffee. The young ones played cards and they also had a great time.

Today we have just been home, eating more Christmas food and I especially has a very bad foot today. I don't know what has happened but it's all swollen and hurts like h...l.

Tomorrow I'm going to the cinema with my boys to see "the 100-year old that went out the window....." You know I have told you about the book.

On Saturday we are going to our good friends Kitte and Janne for dinner. That will be very nice too. We haven't had time to see each other since summer.

So lots of things going on as usual but nice things and a chance to meet and catch up with family and friends which you normally never have time for.

Take care everyone and I hope you all have had a great Christmas too.

OK, now I'm sick instead

Good advice Jo and I have taking it easy but of course then I got ill. So despite feeling bad on Monday I went to the Christmas concert which was just wonderful and magical.
The next day I had the day off (good of me) but wasn't feeling well. I had a headache, coughed a lot, was shivering - well you got the picture.
But the next day of course I went to work. I had to do all the invoicing, the salaries for December (I don't think anyone would have liked it not being paid this month) and so on. So I was at work at 05.20AM (I couldn't sleep so I thought I could go and work instead) already and I worked hard until I was done at 1.30PM. Then home and as I suspected I had fever. So I drank hot water with ginger and honey and that's about what I have had to eat the last days.
Today I was down to my doctor's to take some bloodtests before meeting with my Dr Christer next week. Well, one of the tests, the CRP (which shows infections) was so high that the nurse got me a doctor's appointment at once. Not my ordinary because he has Fridays off.
She examined me and I have bronchitis which in the lower parts and could go to pneumonia if you don't treat it so now I'm on antibiotics. Hopefully I will get better and this doctor said it was good that I had an appointment with Christer next week so he can follow up and see that I'm OK.

So there you go. Despite all the lovely things I've done it doesn't matter I get sick anyway.

OK I don't know what has happened to the photos down below but they look rather funny. They are from when Helen and I was at my favorite hotel, spending the night in my favorite room, having Christmas table at night and complimentary champagne :-)

The other is from the Christmas concert I and my friends went to. Fantastic is the word.

Now I'm off to bed again and I hope I get well soon. Take care!

Oh, I nearly forgot!!! H.E.A.T is to headline Melodic Rock Fest 4 in Chicago in October 2014. They headline Saturday night! I will try to go there for sure.

I'm sorry I haven't written but I'm completely stressed out right now so I have to have my priorities right.

I will get back here and tell you all about it as soon as things settle down.

Meanwhile, take care and above all don't do like me instead be calm :-)

A wonderful day that ended with a chock!

Yesterday I was invited to a VIP-evening at a very famous inn here in Stockholm. It's Ulriksdal's Inn known to have hosted both Kings and Queens and also having a princess as neighbor for many years.

I was invited with a + 1 so I asked one of my colleagues if she wanted to come with me and she was very happy and accepted.
So I went to fetch her at the trainstation (she had been in a meeting)

While waiting for her I went in to the store and bought some groceries and when she came we headed for the Ulriksdal. We arrived to a wonderful setting with lots of pitch tourches leading the way.

Inside we were greated with glogg (alcoholfree for me since I was to drive home) and a nibble to eat. Then a very interesting lecture about Christmas traditions in general and food in particular by a famous TV-personality (Swedish) Edward Blom.

And then off to the sumptuos Christmas table (julbord) with everything you could wish for to eat. Herrings, salmon in all forms and shapes, Christmas ham of course, meatballs, porridge and so much more. Very very generous and so good. To end it all there was a wonderful candy table :-) To top it off we were all handed a goodiebag when we went home.

I drove home happy and content after 3 hours, came home and took my bags out of the car. My bags? Where are my bags? I couldn't find them anywhere and I have a very small car, no places to hide them. Still I started looking, even in the back although I knew I hadn't put them there. Then it hit me! Someone had stolen them. But my car was locked when I came out? How did this happen.
I went outside my car and saw the lock on my side, driver side, had been broken. The central lock still function so I hadn't noticed that. I was in total chock. Nothing like this have ever happened to me! Among the things that were stolen was my IPhone (workphone), my terminalglasses ( also work), my reading glasses and my sunglasses (yes a lot of glasses but I have bad sight).
Then two bags of groceries I had bought. Were the thieves hungry or what?
I was angry, in chock, sad all that at the same time.

Then I tried calling the police. Well, after 40 minutes I decided to report the theft on internet instead. Then I had to call and block the phone (actually that was the first thing I did)

So today has been a very hectic day. Insurance companies to call, opticians to get new glasses, a LOT of work at work and also a very busy week.

I hate those idiots who stole my wonderful day and now cause me so much trouble.

I hope at least you all are doing good. Take care!

We had a great time despite all late cancellations

H.E.A.T members (3/5 of them) came, parents, family, friends and more.
We had a very nice and cozy time. Among us a 50 year jubilar, that is Hasse's oldest son turned 50 today. So we sang and cheered for him. Very nice.

 Helen's dog Pinglan
They all liked what I have made and we had time to sit down and talk to everyone which was nice too.

One funny thing is that one of our friends (it's Jonas friend but she has been like a child in our house for many years) is to perform at the Varmlandsopera in March where she will be performing in Monteverdis L'Orfeo. So I think I will try to get my operafriend to join me and go there.

So now I'm off to bed. Up early as always tomorrow. Sleep well you on this side of the world and to you on the other side - I hope you have a wonderful 1 Advent.

Take care!
