Doing Stockholm like tourists

View from our hotelroom Yes, we do that sometimes during summer which is quite fun. On the ship at Anderson's club room First we went on a cruise ship for a ship visit while the ship is in port here in Stockholm. We were a small group of 20 allowed on board. This is something I get an invite to in spring. I get to choose from several ships and hopefully I will get one. This year we are actually going on two, the other one in August.   M/S Aurora But this time it was P&O Cruises and the ship Aurora. This is an English ship which you could tell by the decor. This ship also do around the world trips where they are out for 3 or 4 months.   Hasse in front of the center piece on board   Wonderful flowers on board I liked the style on board, it was cosy but a bit dark like an English pub, but of course much more luxurious. Hasse was more concerned about the narrow and long corridors in case of fire. The fireman in him never dies ;-)   ...

Gotland, work and holiday

View from our beach Directly after the funeral we, that is me, Hasse and Emil, went to our summerhouse in Gotland. We arrived on Midsummer's Eve in the afternoon to a wonderful and sunny weather. Happy men having coffee The only downside with Gotland is the travel to the island. It cost a fortune nowadays to go over. The only way is by ferry and in 4 years the prices have gone up with 50%. And since I had to make a last minute change we had to go with the smaller ship and of course there was a high sea so people threw up around us :-( We paid this time for 3 people and 1 car return ticket SEK 4000 which is like a week for 2 in a warm place like Spain. Luckily we have a house already. Just think if we had to rent one as well! The price for one week of renting a house is like SEK 7000.  In Gotland there are 92 churches everyone just beautiful. Here are a couple of them. First Hemse church   The very old paintings in Hemse church  Fröjel church ...

Death and funeral

My mother's coffin I am so sorry but I haven't been able to write the last weeks. Since I returned from Prague I went to Sundsvall for the annual meeting with the Rheumatic association but since Mom hadn't been feeling well I first tried to call her ward at the home for elderly but no-one answered despite trying 3 times. I then thought since they hadn't called us and said anything that she was worse, in fact they had said she was better, I assumed it was allright so I decided to go.  Sundsvall, the view from the hotel   Me and the chairman (woman) of our board I flow up on Friday morning and we started our meeting after dinner. I woke up at 5AM and saw that I had a message on my phone. It was my sister H that texted me that Mom had died during the night. It was quite a chock although she had been ill in Alzheimers for several years. You are never ready for your loved ones to pass are you? The family gathered at the grave before the funeral Anyway I ...

Prague part 2

Where did I left off? Oh yes, at Amade restaurant. Well what did we do more? We went, of course, to the Charles bridge from the 14th century. It's just beautiful, full with statues and majestic gates in each ends. On the bridge I got to think of all of those who has gone there before us. Think 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th century. What that bridge must have seen. Women in long dresses, maybe horsedriven coaches, maybe lovers. The fantasty really got going there.   Hasse with views on town and close to our hotel   Jazzband playing on the bridge  A newly wed couple by river Moldau and a lot of swans The organ-grinder There were a jazzband playing, an organ-grinder, dressed in clothes from old days, with a monkey (not real). A man playing glasses. Lots of painters and paintings for sale as well as crafts. Everywhere you went there were something to look at. And then I haven't even spoke about the views! Stunning views of the Prague castle. Did you kno...
